Pittsburgh Central Catholic won WPIAL, AAAA championships in 2003, 2004 and 2007, and was runner-up in 1988 and 2001. Pittsburgh Central Catholic has played four championship games - winning in 1988, 2004 and 2007 Pittsburgh Central Catholic's 21-0 state title win over Parkland in 2007 was the first shutout in 20-year history of Class AAAA championship games. Pittsburgh Central Catholic has reached the state playoff semi-finals six of the past eight seasons. Pittsburgh Central Catholic is one of only two schools to win three state titles. The 2004 Pittsburgh Central Catholic team is regarded as one of the best to ever take the field in state history. The 16-0 Vikings defeated its final four playoff opponents by a combined margin of 165-17. Pittsburgh Central Catholic has twice finished as the No. 1 team in USA Today's Top 10 East Region polls, doing so in 2004 and 2007. The Vikings finished 16-0 each year. the '04 team was ranked sixth nationally by the newspaper while the '07 team finished 11th. Pittsburgh Central Catholic has scored 500 points or more in a season three times in the last six years. Since the start of the 2003 season, Pittsburgh Central Catholic is 81-12 (.870). For the decade, the program is 98-18 (.844). Pittsburgh Central Catholic Coach Terry Totten's four-year record at the school is 44-7 (.862). Since 1963, Pittsburgh Central Catholic has produced 32 all-state players. |
